MISC:Kampuchea was formerly Cambodia. Along with Vietnam and Laos it
once made up Indochina. It is a land of rice paddies and forests
dominated by the Mekong River and Tonle Sap. The climate is tropical;
rainy, monsoon season from May to October; dry season from December to
March; little seasonal temperature variation. The terrain is mostly
low, flat plains with mountains in the southwest and north. 16% of the
land is arable, 76% is forested. Member of UN since 1955.
